Why join the alliance

Join IAWL's endeavors to raise awareness about the challenges women encounter in the legal profession. Alliance members can engage in the campaign at one of three levels.

Advocacy

Alliance members will share and promote materials on the campaign among their networks. This includes email marketing and social media platforms, which will help to reach a broader audience and amplify the campaign message.

The Gender Equality in Law Model Policy promotes gender equality in the legal profession. Organizations can adopt or endorse the policy.

GELC Alliance

The GELC Alliance is a coalition of legal and advocacy groups committed to advancing women’s voices in law and leadership. By joining IAWL’s initiatives, members support gender justice and align with global and regional goals, including UN SDGs #5 & #16 and AU Agenda 2063 Goal #17. As a member, your organization can actively contribute to the campaign’s success.

By adopting the Gender Equality in Law Policy and giving effect to its overarching goal and transformative provisions, law firms unlock the full potential of their workforce in a competitive and evolving legal landscape. Therefore, mainstreaming gender in the workplace makes business sense; but it does much more — it is a necessary condition for building a just,  inclusive, and progressive society.
