Institute for African Women in Law (IAWL) and Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Forge Strategic Partnership to Advance Legal Excellence and Gender Equality

DIANI, KENYA – August 13, 2025 – The Institute for African Women in Law (IAWL) is proud to announce the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Law Society of Kenya (LSK). The landmark agreement was formalized on August 13, 2025, in Diani, Kenya, during the LSK's annual conference, marking a significant step towards enhanced collaboration between the two organizations.
This strategic partnership underscores a shared commitment to fostering legal excellence and promoting gender equality within the legal profession. The MOU outlines a framework for joint initiatives aimed at empowering women in law, advocating for systemic reforms, and contributing to the advancement of justice in Kenya and other parts of the continent.
This MOU with the Law Society of Kenya is a pivotal moment for the Institute for African Women in Law," stated Prof. J. Jarpa Dawuni, Executive Director of IAWL. "It solidifies our shared vision for a more inclusive and equitable legal profession in Africa. By combining our strengths, we can amplify our impact and create lasting positive change for women in law and for the broader legal community.

The partnership is foregrounded by the LSK President delivering a vital message during IAWL’s launch of the Women’s Excellence in Law and Leadership (WELLA) in Nairobi on August 7th, 2025 on International Arbitration and Commercial Investment: Leading in an Age of Wellness. Several training and professional development opportunities are planned for the future.
